For Laredo Theater Guild International’s production of Hamlet, the set design explored the duality of power and decay through form and elevation. Composed of hardscape stone textures, ramps, and layered platforms, the structure served as both stage centerpiece and atmospheric backdrop. Its fortress-like geometry suggested both protection and imprisonment — a physical manifestation of Hamlet’s inner turmoil and the crumbling state of Elsinore. The interplay of height and shadow allowed for dynamic movement and shifting perspectives, transforming the minimalist architecture into an active participant in the tragedy’s unfolding drama.
